How Do You Build Self Confidence?

Why build self confidence?

Because without it you can be the most intelligent person in the world yet fail.

Taking risks will scare the courage out of you, if you lack self confidence.

I remember my first day cold calling: I knocked on 40 unique doors in my territory. I was excited, equipped, and well-trained. Mostly, though, I was terrified. I thought to myself: there is only one way to build self confidence that lasts and can change the world: you have to jump in head first and simultaneously learn to fall in love with your fear.

There is only one way to build self confidence that lasts and can change the world: you have to jump in head first and simultaneously learn to fall in love with your fear.

Since then I’ve dated an incredible woman that I met by approaching her on a train. I’ve connected with people from all over the world that are building their life online through design and courage. I moved to New York and cold called my way into an agency. I ran a sprint triathlon by myself. I’ve been learning a third language. And more…Why?

Because I’m special- no. Because fear only holds you as tight as you let it.

Learn to love yourself enough to take major risks, and things change immediately.

The Secret to Building Self Confidence

Remember that the bravest men and women in history revolutionized the world because they never gave up on their beliefs. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King changed how the world revolved around racism. Steve Jobs manifested design and transformed several industries with Pixar and Apple. Galileo proved that the world is round, despite the risk of death and ex-communication.

Examine any self made man in history –Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Booker T. Washington– they are successful because they take action each day.

To make an impact on the world, you need to truly believe you can. If it’s necessary, knock on doors.

Success isn’t convenient.

And doubt will creep up, of course. So what do you do?

If you want a quality, act as if you already have it. If you want to be courageous, act as if you were- and as you act and persevere in action, so you tend to become.- Norman Vincent Peale

You just keep knocking on doors. The universe will respond; and, ironically, provide you with another door to walk through. Then you’ll start to notice that life has become an adventure: you are constantly growing and building self confidence.

You have to persist to manifest your life. We build self confidence with good habits.  If you quit, every door you’ve knocked on up till this point will instantly close.

Monitoring your self talk enhances your performance on and off the field (the field being your business or place where action happens.) To be truly skilled at communicating, you need a positive self concept.

How to Improve Intrapersonal Skills

Self love is more important than acceptance from others, but you need acceptance from others to accomplish most goals in this lifetime. Priorities, priorities…

Abraham Maslow studied the top 1 % of performers to learn common traits: turns out everyone wants to be liked, even those with greater resources, but not until they’ve taken care of their “lower needs.”
