How Do You Define Courage?

How do you define courage?

Listen, man, the truth is that killing the wantrepreneur takes a lot of courage. Launching a business takes resourcefulness. Talking to clients- diplomacy. Managing your time- rigor.

Almost every day there is something new to learn.

As a/the digital marketer of your brand, you experience new things and oh-boy that means fear is gonna be hanging out with you for a while.

Might as well become friends with.

Hi Fear, Meet Courage

If your journey parallels my own, you’re doing a lot of things you don’t know how to do. You are operating in the realm of possibilities.

And that can be scary stuff!!

Right now I’m focused on launching a product to earn $90,000 in the next 2-3 months and I don’t yet have a product. I know I can make something of value so people interested in marketing don’t have to learn how to strategize for their own brand, yet it’s all new to me.

For you, digital marketing might be new to you.

What’s not new to me is working in the digital advertising space. I know how to create campaigns, how to analyze web traffic, the essential basics of Google Adwords. I have invested hours of my life in books, courses, and projects. I have learned by watching and working with people much smarter than me. I can distribute your product, but I’ve never had to distribute my own.

So I’m experiencing fear and courage.

I get to do for myself what in the past I’ve done for clients: create value and market that value.

And I’m using heavy tools like Adwords, Facebook Power Editor, Excel Pivot tables, etc. I’m also learning to effectively manage 5 or more complex projects at once.

It’s New! Scary! Out of my comfort zone by 10x! I get nervous ALL THE TIME.

Sometimes I doubt I can do it. That’s when I experience fear.

And with fear comes courage.

New Mantra, bro:

“When I am courageous, fear is always there; when I am afraid, I can experience courage.”

The universe is in balance. Nature is balanced. If fear is normal than courage is also normal. We can’t have one without the other.

If you have the type of personality that get’s things done, you know it’s true: there are always new things to learn and knowledge-gaps to fill. Learning something new can be gut-wrenchingly-scary, but the pain is temporary.

Sometimes Thinking About Your Problem Doesn’t Cut It

Do you have a ridiculous fear?

Something you know you shouldn’t be afraid of and yet here you are fidgeting and fearful.

Sound familiar?

  • You’ll never make it as an entrepreneur.
  • You can’t possibly handle another client.
  • You’ll never launch that business.
  • You aren’t experienced enough.
  • Someone else can make it but not me.
  • I’m just not a freaking writer.

I feel you, doggie.

What We’re Up To

I’m working on my first product- to be distributed with paid, owned, and earned media, over the interwebs.

Complete with practical templates you can use straight out the box to come up with your own ad strategy and execute it.

If you want to share your content to a very specific audience using ads on social media or adwords, you’ll like this product.

Plug into the thousands of hours I’ve spent analyzing and creating digital strategies.

At this point it’s been 4 years that I’ve been working in digital marketing, but I’ve never launched a product. I’m working on manifesting a partner.

I’m excited and terrified about this new challenge!

It takes courage and with courage comes fear. Because courage does not exist without fear- so we may as well make friends with it.

What are you working on? Are you launching a new business or switching up the window dressing- marketing or branding- of an existing business? Share in the comments, and thanks for connecting.
